Keely Small has one of the brightest futures in Australian Athletics. At the age of just 16, she represented Australia at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
At these games, she ran an amazing 2:00.81 in the 800m which is now the Australian U18 and U20 record and the 9th fastest U18 time in history. This time also broke a 36 year Australian U20 record. It was the fastest time by an U18 in the world for 5 years.
In 2018, she was given the honour of Flag Bearer for the Australian Youth Olympic team competing in Buenos Aires where she went on to win gold in the 800m. She became just the third Australian to win track and field gold in Youth Olympics history.
She has her sights firmly set on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and beyond and is hungry to knock off the long standing 800m Australian record of 1:59.0 (ht) set back in 1976.
