Cooper is one of the most exciting young prospects in the country. He’s not only a destructive top order batsman but also bowls left-arm orthodox spin.

In 2019, Cooper captained Western Australia to victory in the U17 National Championships in Mackay. He also took out the Player of the Tournament scoring 264 runs at an average of 66 and taking 14 wickets at an average of 13.71. This dominant display resulted in him being selected in the Cricket Australia XI that took part in the U19 National Championships a few months later.

Continued success in this tournament saw him selected for the U19 Australia team that competed in the 2020 World Cup in South Africa at the age of just 16. During this tournament, he scored a blazing 64 off 53 balls against the West Indies which was only the fourth time a 16-year-old has notched up a half century in an U19 World Cup. In 2021, he took out WA's Junior Sports Star of the Year and became the first cricketer to win the award. He also earned himself a State contract with Western Australia at the age of just 17. A contract with the Perth Scorchers in the BBL followed a few months later.

In 2022, Cooper was given the honour of captaining Australia in the 2022 U19 World Cup in the West Indies where he led them to the Semi-Finals.
